Green Tea: Is It Worth The Hype?

I'm a tea drinker, but not by choice. Every time I smell coffee, I wish I could order myself a large cappuccino, but if you've listened to Episode 7 of Beauty IQ Uncensored, you'll know exactly why I can't.

Luckily, it turns out there are some benefits to being a tea drinker, especially of green tea. It's considered to be one of the healthiest beverages we can drink thanks to its high antioxidant content and ability to help with everything from weight loss, to better immunity and even improved brain function.

What Are The Benefits Of Green Tea On Your Skin?

There are honestly so many benefits to this ingredient that I don't know where to begin. But let's start with its anti-inflammatory properties, which make green tea especially ideal for sensitive and irritable skin types. Oh, and if you experience psoriasis, acne or rosacea like me, you may enjoy the cooling, calming benefits too.

Catchetins found in green tea also have antibacterial properties which can help to fight acne, while also combatting the redness and inflammation associated with acne. The tannins found in green tea act as an astringent, helping to reduce excess oiliness.

This much-loved ingredient is also used in many eye products for its de-puffing properties, and the antioxidant content of green tea helps to protect against environmental damage.

So, Which Products Can I Find Green Tea In?

I was SHOOK after trying this mask for the first time. It eliminated ALL the redness and dullness from my complexion (which, for someone with rosacea, is quite impressive). This mask is for all skin types, and is ideal to reduce signs of tiredness or puffiness. It features ingredients like green tea, evening primrose and Mirabilis jalapa flower extracts to help hydrate, calm and repair stressed skin. It's definitely my favourite sheet mask.
