Fact: no one does a cult product quite like IT Cosmetics.

If you haven't yet tried one of the brand's best-selling products, I'll bet my side of halloumi you've heard friends and strangers rabbiting on about them in your group chat or favourite beauty Facebook group.

Products like the infamous Your Skin But Better CC Cream, and the Bye Bye Under Eyes concealer that erases dark circles. Or the beloved Confidence in a Cream that's an ultra-hydrating moisturiser and primer in one.

Now, IT Cosmetics has released a brand new product and I'm calling it early: everyone will want to be sleeping in IT Cosmetics Confidence In Your Beauty Sleep

I've been road testing this new cult-brand night moisturiser ahead of its launch at Adore Beauty so I can tell you if it's any good. Keep scrolling for my honest thoughts.

What is IT Cosmetics Confidence In Your Beauty Sleep?

IT Cosmetics Confidence In Your Beauty Sleep is the latest product in the brand's Confidence Collection. To quickly recap, that includes:

Basically, the newest addition to the family is a night cream, but not as you know them.

Suitable for all skin types, this multi-tasking night moisturiser hydrates, exfoliates and refines your skin overnight, leaving your face looking and feeling like you got more sleep than you actually did.

The brand also reckons by popping on this luxurious 'pillow cream' before bed, you can "sleep your way to younger-looking skin."

"After just one sleep, your skin will feel hydrated, smooth and supple. And after seven sleeps, your fine lines will diminish in appearance and your skin will feel firmer and look plumper!" they say.

Sounds bloody brilliant...

Wait, What the Heck Is a 'Pillow Cream'?

Excellent question. And don't stress, you're not the only one who finds beauty marketing terms confusing.

For example, is there really any difference between a day cream and a night cream and a sleep cream and a sleep mask?

Put simply, the reason why this product is called a pillow cream is because the texture has been specifically formulated not to transfer all over your pillow.

IT Cosmetics came up with their MemoryBounce Technology, which has been tested and proven to absorb into your skin, not your pillowcase. This is great for your face, but also, your wallet. And your laundry. It's great all around.

Now, let's go through what's actually in this IT Cosmetics night cream.

First up, you should know the formula is non-comedogenic, which means it won't block your pores. It also works to hydrate and restore the skin overnight thanks to the following skincare ingredients:

1. Ceramides

Ceramides are one of 2020's skincare buzz words, but they've been around forever. Literally. We've all had ceramides in our skin since the day we were born.

These naturally-occurring lipids (aka fats) help the skin to retain moisture, and strengthen our skin barrier.

We all lose our cermaide stores as we age, but in the same way adding a big fat stick of butter can make anything taste better, ceramides can make your skin look jucier by keeping it moisturised.

2. Hyaluronic Acid

If you haven't met hyaluronic acid yet, allow me to introduce you.

Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that grabs and holds onto water to retain moisture in our bodies, including our skin. We all have our own hyaluronic acid stores, but these stores start running out as we age. Fun.

In skincare, hyaluronic acid is a humectant, meaning it draws moisture to the surface of the skin and keeps skin looking hydrated and dewy. This molecule can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, resulting in plump, juicy-looking skin.

You can learn more about hyaluronic acid in our Skincare Nerds YouTube video below!

3. Adenosine

Again, Adenosine is a naturally-occurring compound all of us have in our bodies. In skincare, it's mostly derived from yeast.

Adenosine's main job is to stimulate collagen production. And more collagen = bouncier, plumper, smoother skin.

My IT Cosmetics Confidence In Your Beauty Sleep Review.

Honest, this IT Cosmetics night cream is unlike any other I've tried. Let me explain.

First, we need to talk about the texture because if you thought the whole pillow cream memory bounce jazz was just marketing speak, I can tell you, it's not.

The first time I stuck my (clean) finger into the pot, I couldn't get over how... weird this moisturiser feels. It's hard to describe, but the silky, bouncy texture reminds me of... glue?

I know this is sounding really strange, but when you scoop out the cream, it holds its own shape. Rather than your finger gliding through like it would with a lotion or whipped texture, you feel a bit of bouncy resistance, which is the magic of the MemoryBounce technology.

Then, there's the colour. And the scent.

IT Cosmetics Confidence In Your Beauty Sleep is purple. Well, lilac, more accurately. Does this do anything for your skin? Not a thing, but it's pretty.

The moisturiser also smells like lavender or lavender-scented sleep products, which I kind of love because I associate it with snoozing. It's not too overpowering, but if you're sensitive to fragrances, this product isn't for you.

I've been applying a generous dollop of the product as the last step in my evening skin care routine, right before bed, for about two weeks now.

The luscious texture thins out and sinks into the skin like a traditional night cream, but leaves you with a light, non-sticky layer that, to me, feels like a protective barrier between my skin cells and the outside world.

No stinging or irritation on my dry, moody skin, either.

As promised, the cream doesn't transfer onto my pillowcase. It also gets bonus points for not making my silk eye mask greasy.

Now, let's address the main claim. Did using IT Cosmetics Confidence In Your Beauty Sleep give me plumper, firmer skin in seven sleeps?

If you're hoping for results only cosmetic injectables can deliver, you will be disappointed by this moisturiser. Even though the brand is well-known for developing their formulas with plastic surgeons’ insights and dermatologists’ expertise, no such instantly plumping cream exists.

I've found the results are subtle, but noticeable. Like when you look at yourself in the mirror in the morning and think, thank you Jesus, today is going to be a good skin day.

Personally, I'm loving the sensory ritual using the product adds to my otherwise quite boring isolation evenings. But I will say, I do enjoy how my skin looks when I wake up after sleeping in this moisturiser - bright, bouncy and well-hydrated.

What more could your skin barrier want.
