How to Treat Hormonal Acne Breakouts with a Night Skincare Routine

My SOS Skincare Routine for clearing up acne breakouts during that time of the month!

I've been working in beauty for 7.5 years and love it! My main concerns have been: acne, acne scarring, pigmentation and the texture of my skin. This routine is what I use when I notice my skin is feeling aggravated and breakouts are starting to form under my skin.

How to Conceal and Cover Up Acne Blemishes?

Before starting in beauty I would invest my time on makeup to conceal my blemishes and scarring. Now I dedicate the same amount of attention and energy to my skincare routine because, without great skin, your makeup will never look the way you'd like it to.

I guess you could say this is my SOS Skincare Routine, which I tend to use once a month and usually around the same time as that time of the month!

My Night Skincare Routine for Hormonal Breakouts

Step 1: Bioderma Makeup Remover

Step 1: Bioderma Makeup Remover

I usually soak a few cotton pads with Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution and use this to remove the brunt of my high coverage foundation/makeup. It's super gentle and doesn't irritate your eyes.

Step 2: Cosmedix Oil Cleanser

Step 2: Cosmedix Oil Cleanser

I then use Cosmedix Purity Solution Deep Cleansing Oil on dry skin to loosen any remaining makeup/dirt and then emulsify using water, rinsing to remove completely. I do this in the shower because I'm a mess.

Step 3: SkinCeuticals Gel Cleanser

Step 3: SkinCeuticals Gel Cleanser

SkinCeuticals Simply Clean is a gel foaming cleanser and I use it as my second cleanse all over my face and throat, concentrating on my eyelashes, my hairline and behind my ears because they're the areas that always seem to have remnants of makeup.

Step 4: Aspect Retinol Serum

Step 4: Aspect Retinol Serum

I use 1-2 pumps of this magic Vitamin A serum and apply onto dry skin. Aspect Retinol Brulee feels incredibly gentle and I am able to use this daily if I need to without burning my face off - WIN!

Step 5: PCA Skin Hydrating Serum

Step 5: PCA Skin Hydrating Serum

PCA Skin Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum is by the far my favourite hydrating serum and it has a beautiful gel-like texture that is light and compliments my combination skin perfectly. I use this twice daily. If I could I would bathe in it.

Step 6: PCA Skin Moisturiser

Step 6: PCA Skin Moisturiser

PCA Skin Clearskin 48.2g is by the far my favourite daytime moisturiser. It has a beautiful lightweight texture that is hydrating without being greasy. It compliments my combination skin perfectly. I use this every morning on top of a hydrating serum.
