About the Author
Before working at Adore Beauty my interest in beauty was sparked as a form of extreme procrastination during my undergrad when I thankfully discovered brow products and Hyaluronic Acid. Nothing was really the same after that. Now as writer at Adore Beauty I'm constantly researching beauty to give you the most informed and up to date beauty advice!- Medium

How do you know if you have sensitive skin?
If you have sensitive or reactive skin, you know that there are plenty of ingredients you need to avoid, and sometimes this means it can be hard to find skin care products that will suit your needs.
Having sensitive skin is very different from having sensitised or reactive skin, so let’s differentiate them.
Sensitive skin is a genetic predisposition that tends to be triggered by heat, stress or food.
Sensitised skin is more common and can occur in many people from time to time, triggered by external factors for a temporary period, but may result in similar redness and irritation.
Signs and symptoms of sensitive skin include dryness, rashes, flaking, redness, irritation and burning.
If you’re experiencing these signs and symptoms we recommend seeing a doctor to assess your skin care routine. We’ve seen this routine work well for people with sensitive skin before, but remember skin is a delicate balance, and everyone is different!

Which La Roche Posay products should I use?
In this easy 5 step routine we’ll show you how to use products from La Roche Posay to hydrate and nourish your sensitive skin. These products are formulated without common irritants that are known to exacerbate sensitive skin conditions.
Step 1: Gently remove makeup

Step 1: Gently remove makeup
Apply the La Roche-Posay Micellar Water Ultra for Sensitive Skin to a cotton pad, and gently remove any makeup off the face before bed. This pH balanced micellar water effectively removes makeup without leaving it dry or itchy. Skin is hydrated and boosted with the inclusion of Glycerine.
Step 2: An antioxidant and prebiotic mist

Step 2: An antioxidant and prebiotic mist
To wash your face apply the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Mist directly onto a cotton pad and then wipe across your face until your skin feels clean and refreshed. Skin that is sensitised to tap water will benefit from this mist, which is boosted by antioxidant properties and natural prebiotic benefits.
Step 3: Reduce red spots

Step 3: Reduce red spots
If you’re experiencing any particular red or dry spots we recommend trying the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Soothing Repairing Balm. This restorative balm is absorbed rapidly and works to seal in moisture, promoting recovery.
Step 4: Fight flare ups

Step 4: Fight flare ups
Fight flare ups with the La Roche-Posay Rosaliac AR Intense: Anti-Redness Intensive Care. This calming anti-redness serum can be applied at night to areas in need of treatment after cleansing.
Step 5: Minimalist moisturiser

Step 5: Minimalist moisturiser
Apply a simple but hydrating moisturiser like the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Sensitive Moisturiser to finish off your routine. This moisturiser helps skin feel calm, cool and hydrated.
Sensitive Skin Tips:
If your skin is sensitive or feeling sensitized, focus on hydration. Retinols and chemical exfoliants may exacerbate your current skin condition.
Use the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Mist to cleanse your face if you find that tap water sensitises your skin.
Be patient & gentle on your skin. If you've had a reaction, your skin will need time to heal and repair its barrier.
