As a large retailer, Adore Beauty has been at the forefront of disrupting Australia Beauty Shopping experience and recognises it’s ongoing responsibility in creating positive industry change. Adore Beauty champions new practices and positive changes that may  help the environment.
We want to lead with compassion, and reject the idea that what happens to the world is out of our control. From the office to the warehouse, we are constantly thinking of ways we can improve our processes and engage our employees to create a responsible business.
Our environmental initiatives are conceptualised and implemented by people across our entire team who are dedicated to making decisions and changes with the environment in mind.

Focus on the Future

Growing from a small self-run beauty store to an impressive team of 170+ people here in Melbourne, considering our environmental impact has become increasingly important to us.
Since 2018, we have introduced many changes and initiatives aimed at reducing our  environmental impact. We’re always learning, and looking for opportunities to improve what we do and how we do it.

Our Commitments

Waste reduction & recycling

  • We introduced volumetric box sizing in our warehouse, which means we use software to determine the smallest box size that the items will fit into for each order
  • Continuously refine our boxes to use less cardboard
  • Our picking operation is paperless, meaning no pick slips
  • We use void fill that's 100% recycled matter and 100% recyclableIntroduced an onsite cardboard compactor, recycling all recyclable cardboard throughout the operation
  • Introduced soft plastic recycling so we can responsibly recycle all the waste we receive from suppliers
  • We switched to a recyclable paper alternative to bubble wrap

Working to reduce our carbon emissions

  • The customer fulfilment centre features a reflective roof paint which reduces internal temperatures by up to six degrees in peak summer. Large low noise fans are installed to the ceiling ensuring air movement and lower the perceived temperature. In addition, this site uses renewable electricity from a GreenPower accredited product.

ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) Audit

Adore Beauty is focussed on developing and improving its ethical sourcing strategy in order to minimise its modern slavery risks. During FY23 Adore Beauty worked closely with external consultants to review and expand this strategy.  This work included a risk assessment of Adore Beauty's supply chains and operations, a review of current modern slavery related policies and the development of a tailored online modern slavery training module for roll-out to our team.  This work will continue into FY24 with the development of a supplier code of conduct and responsible sourcing guidelines for our sourcing teams.

Adore Beauty Acknowledges the Woiwurrung language group of the Eastern Kulin Nations as the Traditional Owners of the land our Customer Fulfillment Center and Head Office conduct our business operations on. We would like to extend that Acknowledgement and Respect to all First Nations People and Elders across Australia as our parcels travel across their land, air and water. We recognise First Nations Peoples continuous relationship and connection to Country and at Adore Beauty we commit to treading lightly on the land our parcels travel. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and future.
