Lovely hair oil
The only reason I only gave it 4.5 stars is because the packaging can be a nightmar...
If you like your haircare efficacious and luxurious, you’re in the right place. Shu Uemura Art of Hair products are lovely to use, kind to hair, and generally just really lush. You’re going to love them.
It’s all in the name. This brand was founded by and named for a Japanese makeup artist, Shu Uemura. He was a legend in the beauty world, best known for his focus on skin health and natural beauty. You’ll see that same approach in Shu Uemura hair products, which are all about helping your hair look its absolute best and healthiest.
Great question. As discussed, Shu Uemura himself was Japanese, so if you’ve got any familiarity with that language this will be much easier. The short version, though, is that it’s roughly ‘shoe oo-eh-moor-ah.’ Soften your R a little bit, if you want to really nail it. It’s closer to a D sound.
So the Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoos look a little different to most shampoos, you use them in much the same way. Wet your hair, massage the cleansing oil into your scalp and rinse thoroughly, repeating if you find your hair gets oily quickly. Too easy.
Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo can also be used as a weekly pre-cleanse treatment before your regular shampoo, to deal with product build-up.
Of course, that depends what you’re after, but the Shu Uemura Ultimate Reset Mask is a winner. Nourishing, fortifying and soothing, this weekly mask for damaged hair is made with rice. It’s a winner.
Also worth your attention (as well as those cleansing oil shampoos we talked about above) is the Shu Uemura Muroto Volume Amplify Shampoo. If your hair is looking a little lacklustre, this is what you need for healthy volume and bounce.
