The weather is getting warmer, the evenings are getting lighter and daylight savings has arrived.

Hello, summer! (Well, nearly).

And while this is incredibly thrilling (I’ve personally been screeching for weeks about how excited I am for summer), it does mean one thing.

Event season is on the horizon.

Think afternoons spent with friends at a rooftop bar somewhere, end-of-year celebrations, and more dinners, lunches and brunches than actual days in the month.

Now, with all of that said, I can’t help you out with your bursting calendar, but I can help you with inspo for your hairstyles.

Because as partial as I am to a slick-back bun, event season is the perfect time to flex your hair-styling skills and give your hairline a rest. No one wants traction alopecia if they can help it.

So, what products are we using?

As the masters of a good hair day, we’re going to use some brilliant ghd products to achieve these looks.

First up we’ve got the ghd Duet 2-In-1 Hot Air Styler In Black that I’ve previously used and loved - you can read my full review here.

It’s the perfect solution to “Oh my god I need to wash, dry and style my hair in twenty minutes”.

Next up we’ve got the snazzy new holiday set, that includes both the ghd Helios hairdryer Black and the ghd platinum+ black hair styler, plus a gorgeous carry case.

What more could you ask for?

So read on for three hairstyles to get you ready for any event you’ve got coming up!

1. The Bouncy Blowout.

You'll need:

Step 1: Wash your hair with your favourite shampoo and conditioner combo. Pro tip: shampoo twice, and on your second cycle use a shampoo brush to really cleanse the hair and scalp.

Step 2: Towel dry hair to the point that it’s not dripping down your back. Grab a pump or two of the volume foam, emulsify it in your hands and rub it from a cm away from the root to mid-lengths.

Then grab your Helios and rough dry your hair - there is no method to the madness here, just make sure that you’re getting the hair at your scalp and the nape of your neck dry as well.

Step 3: Then part your hair how you normally would, and separate each half into another separate half to ensure you’ve got a bottom section and a top section of hair for each side of your head.

Step 4: Once your hair is separated, pick a bottom section to start with. Spritz the section with the heat protectant and brush it gently out with a paddle brush.

Step 5: Grab your Helios and your round brush, grab a small section of hair (about 3cm wide) and line it up to the width of the brush. Then line up the nozzle of the Helios to the round brush, and drag both the brush and the dryer down the length of your hair.

When you get to the end of your hair, twist the brush, drag it so it’s vertical and twirl the ends of your hair. Repeat!

Step 6: Do both the bottom sections of your hair before you get to the top sections, to ensure you’re evenly drying all sections of your hair.

Step 7: When you get to the top sections, let all of your hair fall out of the clips aside from the pieces framing your face. Pop those small sections back into clips - we’ll focus on those later.

Repeat step four for those top two sections of hair, with extra emphasis on the ends as they’ll be more visible.

Step 8: Unclip the sections of hair framing your face, and blow dry those up and away from your face, rather than down.

Once they’re dry, turn your hair upside down and blast your whole head with warm air, and then flick your hair back up. Bend and snap optional.

Voila! A gorgy blowout you can do at home.

2. The Sleek & Straight.

You'll need:

Step 1: Start with towel-dried hair, fresh from the shower. You want to be able to not flick water all over your bathroom when handling your hair here.

Step 2: Separate your hair into two sections - top and bottom. Grab your Sleek Talker Styling Oil and pop a few pumps into your hand, emulsify in your hands, and then rub through the lengths of your hair. For comparison, I use two pumps for my long hair.

Step 3: Turn on your ghd Duet and run it through the lengths of your hair, holding for a little bit longer at the roots for each section. Move from the bottom to the top sections of hair.

Step 4: When your hair is all dry, pop the duet on its 'shine shot' setting and run it through the lengths of your hair again.

And that is genuinely it.

You’ve got gorgeous, sleek hair ready for whatever the night (or day!) throws at you. And trust me, the Duet has long-lasting styling powers if my experience is anything to go by.

The sleek style I recently did on a Saturday evening even lasted through a Sunday morning run club. Incredible!

3. The Flat Iron Curl.

You'll need:

Step 1: Start with freshly dried hair. Separate your hair into four sections with a few of your favourite claw clips - top, bottom and on each side of your part.

Step 2: Spritz some heat protectant through a section, and grab about a 4cm width of hair. Run your comb through the section of hair and line up your ghd Platinum.

Step 3: This step is actually hard to explain, so I’ll let this fab video do it for me:

Step 4: Once you’ve curled your hair, spritz with some curl hold spray and you’re ready to take some new selfies for your latest photo dump.

Final Verdict.

So with all of the above considered, ghd has you covered for whatever look you like to rock when you’re enjoying some quality time with your family and friends.
