I Tried Olaplex's Bonding Oil & This Is My Verdict

It seems like it was only yesterday that we launched Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother, and now there's another product in the Olaplex range (my damaged hair is totally not complaining though).

Now, I don't mean to brag, but I was one of the lucky people who got to try the first two bottles of Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil in Australia, so I've had a fair bit of time to also become obsessed with this product.

What Does No.7 Bonding Oil Do?

Firstly, don't let the word "oil" scare you off. Olaplex No.7 is the first of its kind; it’s a highly concentrated, ultra-lightweight, reparative styling oil. It dramatically increases shine, adds softness and strength, enhancing all hair types and textures without leaving behind an oily residue.

Honestly, the bottle looks super small. In fact, I questioned whether or not it was full size, but yes it's just a tiny bottle. Why? Because you literally only need 2-3 drops (a little goes a long way, I recommend starting with 2 drops). The plus side of a small bottle is that it's travel-friendly which is ideal for me.

Tell Me More:

  • It offers heat protection to prevent damage and breakage (up to 230 degrees)

  • Protects from colour fading with built-in UV protection (a must for colour-treated hair)

  • No.7 helps shorten drying time & gives your hair a high shine finish

  • Repairs damage to the hair & helps to strengthen the hair structure

  • Detangles knotty tresses, while reducing frizz & flyaways

  • The formula is vegan, cruelty-free & doesn't contain parabens or sulfates

How To Use:

What I love about both No.6 and No.7 is that you can use them in damp or dry hair. My personal preference is to apply to damp hair, as I find it gives my fine, damaged and colour-treated hair the best finish. Applied dry, it well help thicker, courser and frizzier hair types get a smoother finish.

In damp, towel-dried hair, I add a couple of drops of No.7 before styling. It can also be added to No.6 (these two are an excellent pair) for added softness, shine and manageability. You can also use No.6 on damp hair as a leave-in treatment, and use No.7 as a finishing oil post-styling.

As someone who's trying to grow out a bleach-induced accidental mohawk, No.7 has been an absolute lifesaver for repairing the significant damage to my hair, while reducing further breakage and strengthening my hair. I also can't complain about the shine I get from this product (something that's usually foreign to a damaged blonde).

What's Everyone Else Saying?

Love it!

Randy

I love using hair oil for my ends, but I get migraines from powerful fragrances. I used to use Ouidad's oil but would always end up needing medicine because of the headache. Even the Ouai hair oil had a strong fragrance. What I love about No.7 is that it hydrates my curls, without an overpowering fragrance. My nose, head, and hair are loving these products! Thank you!

Just utterly amazing

Gina

I used the whole line today..3-5 and then the new no.7. WOW. MY hair feels and looks amazing. Took less time to dry, my hair is smooth and no frizz. I have all the oils and serums and this one tops them all..it's amazing how little goes a long way. Well done, again, Olaplex. My hair is alive again!

OMG! The best product ever!!!

Ari

I've used all kinds of oils and products to help manage my frizz and hair texture. The No.7 is by far the best product I've ever used. My hair has never looked or felt so good. I'm forever grateful! Thank you!
