Like most makeup trends, it's all about tailoring it to your skin tone and features and the 'latte makeup' trend is definitely a versatile look.
Whether you prefer a subtle, everyday makeup look or crave something bolder and more artistic, the latte makeup trend offers endless possibilities.
Picture the velvety richness of a caramel macchiato, the deep, earthy yellow hues of a mocha, and the fluffy golden froth on top of a freshly brewed cup of coffee - all translated into this TikTok trend.
Say bye bye to the red tones and strong black liner.
It's all about the sexy, smokey bronzed goodness! Think- yellow, caramel and olive based undertones.
How to Do Latte Makeup.
As we all know, bronzing and contouring isn’t anything new, but you will find it’s the layering and blending of products that differentiates this from previous bronzey trends.
It's all about that gorgeous latte bronzy glow coming through the skin.
Step 1: Start With a Hydrated Base.
The first step for the latte trend is glowing skin.
I used Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Moisturiser all over and then the Kryolan Shimmer Event in 'Golden Beige' on the high plains of the face, cheek bones and forehead.
Step 2: Bronzer, Contour & Foundation.
The Latte makeup trend focuses on placing your bronzer/contour under your foundation to give a soft sculpted effect on the skin.
You can opt for a lightweight, dewy foundation that gives your skin a healthy glow, or, you can skip the whole foundation step and just melt your strategically placed bronzer and concealer together. This can create a fluidity in your base and makes it look effortless and sunkissed.
I trialed the new MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Skin Sculpting Palette for this look (by the way friends, this palette is currently exclusive to Adore Beauty - eee!).
The MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Skin Sculpting Palette has 6 shades to conceal and even out skin tone, 2 contour/bronzing shades and 4 highlighters.
The lightweight, comfortable formula blends with the skin for a naturally radiant finish that lasts for 12 hours. Also, the buildable coverage makes it ideal for all skill levels.
I began by mixing 2 of the deeper golden shades to create my bronzing contour.
Using a synthetic blush brush, I placed the contour/bronzer cream as you would your contour. Framing the face and cutting in to contour under the cheek bones.
This palette is so creamy that the shades blend easily together.
Once I mapped out the contour, I went in with my concealing shade in the palette and used a make up sponge to blend it all together.
I love using a sponge for this as it melts the colours quickly and with no harsh lines- perfect for this latte look.
Pops of the cream highlighter were also added to the cheekbone, cupids bow and bridge to the nose for a subtle highlight.
Step 3: Latte Makeup Smokey Eyes.
The eye makeup is all smoked out, no winged liner and no black eyeliner in the waterline to be seen (brown pencil is ok).
I started with the contour shade in the MUFE HD Skin Contour Palette as a base on the eyes and wrapped it around to the lower lash line too.
Going in with a soft small blending brush, I used the caramel nude matte shade from the Huda Beauty Nude Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette Medium 10g and softly blended it over the cream base.
Using a blending brush allows you to smoke out the shadow to create that perfect latte blended eye look.
To add dimension to the lid, I added a little of the metallic caramel shade to the center of my lids.
No Latte Makeup look is complete without soft, fluffy and full lashes.
So curl those lashes and grab your favourite volumising mascara to enhance and complete your look.
Lastly, I groomed my brows with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze. Brows aren't the main focus in this look, so I just filled in where needed and kept them subtle.
Step 4: Best Lip Combo for Latte Makeup.
To finish off your latte-inspired masterpiece, turn your attention to your lips.
A cool mocha nude shade is the perfect choice to complete this.
I’ve used MAC Stripdown Lip Liner (formally known as the M.A.C Cosmetics Lip Pencil) which is the perfect yellow based brown for this look.
Then I added a pop of clear gloss to achieve that irresistible 'freshly made' latte look.
Final Thoughts...
As a makeup artist, the Latte makeup trend is one of my favourite looks to create because of its versatility.
The palette range is so wide that there is something to complement every skin tone and style.
I guess this makeup trend can be a “weak latte”, “regular latte” or a “strong latte” look, depending on your skin tone!
Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or simply enjoy the occasional cup, this trend promises to infuse your makeup routine with a the perfect blend cool coffee tones.
