This Serum Is Magic, But It’s Not For Your Skin

This serum is actually magic. And for those of you who skipped the title of this article, it’s not for your face. The phrase “magic serum” gives me mixed feelings. On the one hand, I am sceptical about hyperbolic claims, but on the other hand, I feel warm and fuzzy and want to try it immediately.

When Kérastase’s 8HR Magic Night Serum landed on my desk, I was indeed sceptical. I am much more interested in magical face serums that erase fine lines, give me a plumped-up glow or help me look like I’ve had a solid eight hours of sleep. Because in all honesty, there is no amount of beauty wizardry that can make my wild hair manageable. Well, so I thought…

The Back Story:

To tell you the truth, I wasn’t even going to write this article. I took the serum home, and just as I was about to pop it into my cupboard with about a dozen other unused hair products, I scanned the bottle.

Maaaaagic…. The word instantly put me under a spell. In my hypnotised state, I ran one pump through my dry hair and headed to the couch to watch The Handmaid’s Tale. After the episode finished, I ran my fingers through my hair. What. The. Hell. Just. Happened?

What Happened?

Despite my initial scepticism, I’m going to give it to Kérastase – this serum is legitimately magic. Even an hour later, my hair felt silky and soft. A few days later, I tried the serum on damp hair, and slept in it overnight.

Rather than the frizzy bird’s nest I usually encounter upon rolling out of bed, this time I woke up with bouncy curls, which straightened effortlessly into a super sleek, glossy bob à la Kim K. No other products required! I immediately reported my findings to our Beauty Editor and started writing this article.

The Important Deets:

Did I mention the scent? It has an evolving fragrance that promotes sleep at night and energy in the morning – imagine a really clean, almost soapy (in a good way) fragrance. Seriously, if that’s not magic, I don’t know what is.

  • It has a lightweight, creamy texture for dry hair types of all textures

  • The nutrient-rich formula deeply penetrates the hair fibre for optimum absorption

  • It works over an 8 hour period so you wake up with softer, smoother hair

  • The key ingredient, Iris Root extract, nourishes hair & adds a film over the surface

  • Features a blend of five hair-loving vitamins (including protective vitamin E)

  • Helps to seal the cuticle of the hair and adds a soft, satin finish

Love this so much! Even in my very fine and oily hair it is amazing! Will definitely repurchase when this runs out but a little goes a long way.

Okay ladies, this serum is the absolute staple of my hair care products. As a self confessed lover of Kerastase (I have no idea how to pronounce this fyi), I have been fully switched over to their hair care range for about 6 months now, after going from brunette to blonde, and they have SAVED MY HAIR!!!! This serum is in my hair about 3-4 times a week, dependent on how often I wash my golden locks...
