This Skin Tint Gave Me the Healthiest Glow (And I Never Want to Be Without It)

The last couple of years have been a game-changer for all of us makeup lovers.

We've become more skincare-conscious and have learnt to embrace the ‘no-makeup makeup’ look, or as Gen Z calls it: "The Clean Girl Makeup Aesthetic."

As a makeup artist, I am always on the lookout for the latest must-have complexion products and as someone with hormonal skin issues, I've never had a lot of luck when it comes to skin tints.

I find they're usually too runny and not pigmented enough to cover my post-acne pigmentation.

So when Bobbi Brown came along with their new Vitamin Enriched Skin Tint (we didn't think anything could get better than the Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched face base), I knew I had to put it to the test!

But before I tell you about my experience with this product, let's first understand what it is and what it claims to do.

What Is the New Bobbi Brown Skin Tint?

Unlike tinted moisturisers, skin tints are known for their sheer and very lightweight coverage.

They’re usually less creamy in texture and tend to be more hydrating than moisturising, which makes skin tints the perfect choice for mostly everyone, particularly those with dehydrated or combination skin.

The new Bobbi Brown Skin tint is a two-in-one complexion product that contains vitamins B, C, E, and D, as well as shea butter, hyaluronic acid and cactus flower extract and promises to hydrate and care for our skin while giving us a natural and fresh coverage.

What else does the Bobbi Brown skin tint claim to do?

  • Last 12 hours: Won’t fade, crease, or settle.

  • Sweat & humidity resistant: Perfect for all-day wear.

  • Help nourish skin and support the skin barrier.

  • Contains a pigment-Flex technology: Ensures colour stays true all day long (aka does not oxidise throughout the day).

  • Comes in 18 shades: It’s all about finding the perfect match!

The first thing about this Bobbi Brown makeup skin tint I noticed was the size!

It came in a very generous 50ml squeeze tube, which meant that I had enough products to last me awhile and that I could also take it everywhere without the fear of it leaking or breaking.

One of my icks when it comes to skin tints is how messy the application process can be due to the product being runny.

But unlike the others I've tried, the Bobbi Brown Skin tint was so smooth, with a consistency that was neither too runny nor too creamy, just - chef's kiss!

I was also pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the coverage was...

It was pigmented enough to cover some of my hyper-pigmentation as you can see in my before and after skin tint picture below:

I mean, he-llo Clean Girl Makeup Look!

If you're looking for the 'best skin tint' - you need to give this one a try.

Now, what if you wanted to achieve the 'no-makeup makeup' look but the glowy skin thing is not your vibe?

I've got you!

Since I have combination-oily skin ( remember, hormonal skin issues ), I sometimes prefer my makeup to look more matte than dewy. Kinda like the soft matte "Cloud Makeup Look" if you will.

So of course I grabbed Bobbi Brown's other buzzy new product - their newly reformulated Sheer Pressed Finishing Powder in the shade 'Basic Brown'.

Intrigued? Let's meet this new Bobbi Brown powder...

What Is the New Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder?

Unlike a setting powder that has the primary purpose of locking in liquid and cream products, a sheer finishing pressed powder like this Bobbi Brown one is designed to give your skin a 'soft-focus' effect.

Think of it like an IRL Facetune effect for the skin.

Here's some other fast facts on the Bobbi Brown compact powder:

  • Controls oil: Up to 12 hours of oil control making it ideal for oily and combination skin.

  • Blurs and mattifies skin: Delivers an even, comfortable wear with a natural matte finish.

  • Skin-friendly: Contains perlite powder, avocado extract, and salicylic acid.

  • Sets foundation: Keeps everything in place for up to 16 hours.

  • Comes in 11 shades: Catering to a wide range of skin tones.

Firstly, can we have a moment for the packaging, please?

This finishing pressed powder came in a sleek black case and includes a powder puff, as well as a good size mirror, making on-the-go application a breeze.

The powder feels like it is very finely-milled as it just melted into the skin on application.

I loved how it gave me a lovely, sheer coverage with a comfortable matte finish (because, a powdery feeling ain't my vibe!).

What I find impressive with this powder is that it comes in 11 shades!

As a brown skin gal, finding the right complexion match can often be a daunting task...

However, I’ve found this process so much easier thanks to Bobbi Brown’s extended shade range.

A quick flick through the Adore Beauty product page made it so easy to choose the right one!

5 Pro Makeup Tips to Get the Best Out of Your Skin Tint and Finishing Powder:

1. Since this Bobbi Brown Skin Tint is packed with skin-loving ingredients, be light-handed with your skincare. This will ensure that there aren't too many layers competing with each other.

2. Ditch the brush or beauty sponge and apply with your fingers. The warmth of your hands will help melt the product into your skin.

3. If you want more coverage in certain areas, gently press and tap more products where needed.

4. Even though the finishing powder comes with a puff, I find that using a small powder brush helps to give a beautiful sheer finish.

5. If you want to get slightly more coverage from this finishing powder, use the included powder puff to tap the product on the skin.

Final Verdict:

Both products claimed to be long-wearing, so I decided to put them to the test.

I am happy to report that my makeup still looked fresh by the end of the day and that it still held on even after a very challenging reformer pilates session.

I can definitely see myself purchasing them again.

If you're someone who values a natural glow, wants to nourish the skin while looking fabulous, and needs something that holds up throughout the day, these are the products for you.

Whether worn together or separately, they create a beautiful and effortless look.
