My Take on Hailey Bieber’s Fresh-Faced Viral Strawberry Makeup

Well, well, well, look who's fallen for yet another Hailey Bieber beauty look.

*Points to self.*

This time, it's Strawberry Makeup.

Better known to me as my everyday 5-minute makeup routine.

Before you say anything, it’s dawned on me that Hailey essentially relabels existing beauty looks (mine included).

But there’s just something so fun about calling them ‘Strawberry’, ‘Glazed Donut’, ‘Latte’, or whatever other food-themed term she conjures up next.

In case you missed it, Strawberry Makeup first blew up our TikTok feeds last month, amassing over three BILLION views before Hailey’s brand Rhode dropped its new Strawberry Glaze Peptide Lip Treatment.

In retrospect, it’s a reminder that even marketers still fall for well-executed marketing campaigns. Whoops.

But this minimal makeup vibe is too good to pass up, IMO. So, when life throws us strawberries, why not whip up a fruity look with them?

With the weather warming up, this effortless style is your ticket to achieving that coveted 'your-skin-but-better' beat we're all yearning for.

So keep scrolling, my friends, because I've got your step-by-step guide right here.

Step 1. Skin Prep.

This buzzy beauty trend is anchored by fresh, sun-kissed skin which starts with a dewy, hydrated base.

My current go-to products for achieving this are:

Feel free to add a primer if you fancy, but I personally find that my SPF does a decent job at keeping my makeup in place. (Dry AF skin, remember?)

I then fluff up and set my brows with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze followed by the Benefit Gimme Brow + Fibre Gel.

Step 2. Barely-There Base.

With our skin prepped and primed, it’s time to move onto our base.

Tinted moisturisers, BB and CC creams or–my favourite 2023 beauty trend–skin tints are all viable options.

The common thread? Light coverage that lets your natural skin shine through.

For those of us with skin that's thirsty for moisture (like yours truly), skin tints are *IT*.

They're often packed with hydrating goodies like hyaluronic acid, emollients (e.g. shea butter), and a sprinkle of vitamins for good measure.

Here’s a handful of skin tints I’m loving:

Pro tip: Keep it simple by applying with your fingers.

Just dab a small amount on the back of your hand and use your finger to gently dot it onto your skin. This not only avoids overdoing it but also seamlessly melds the product into your skin for that flawless finish.

P.S. The age-old saying less is more holds up here too.

Finally, before we dive into blush, I like to go in with a hint of bronzer.

My current go-to is the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Face Powder Sculpt, which I apply to my cheekbones and hairline.

3. Flushed Cheeks.

This is where the strawberry part comes in.

Again, you’ve got options (cream, liquid, stain, powder, etc.) depending on your preference.

I personally prefer to use either a cream blush or cheek stain as they give a natural flush to the cheeks without looking heavy or like makeup.

While you can certainly use your fingers, I've got a little trick up my sleeve.

I warm up the product on the back of my hand using a small blush brush. Then, I gently press it onto my skin, blending diagonally from the apples of my cheeks out to my temples.

Any leftover blush is then applied to my eyelids and over the bridge of my nose. This pulls everything together for sun-kissed perfection.

Here are some blushes I’d recommend:

Finally, I apply a small amount of lightweight concealer to my undereye, like the Huda Beauty GloWish Bright Light Sheer Concealer, which is fab for subtly illuminating tired eyes.

4. The Grand Finale.

Now, it's time to apply our final touches.

Here's the lineup: mascara, brow pencil and my current obsession – freckles!

They’re not for everyone, but I think they're such a cute way to take our Strawberry Makeup look a step further.

Freckles can also help to perk up your natural features if they've been a tad overshadowed by your makeup.

With a feather-light touch, I dot the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Liner in shade 'Malt' over the bridge of my nose, using my fingers to gently tap the product in for a soft, natural finish.

For my eyes, I can't go past my holy grail Benefit Cosmetics Fan Fest Mascara, which volumises and separates for fluttery, feathery lashes.

Lastly, I reach for the same Benefit LoveTint Lip & Cheek Tint that I used for my blush, dabbing it onto my lips using my finger.

And for the final touch, a swipe of my Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask – the pièce de résistance of a glossy, juicy pout.

Drumroll please... here it is, my take on Strawberry Makeup:
