As much as I would’ve loved a Dyson nose hair trimmer (you got that, Dyson engineers?), a hair straightener seemed more on brand for the people who revolutionised hair styling with the Dyson Supersonic and Airwrap tools.
Dyson Corrale Hair Straightener is a high-tech straightener with a high-tech price tag, designed to reduce hair damage and deliver faster, smoother styling.
Like most, I was pretty sceptical about whether a $699 hair straightener would be worth the money.
But having used it since it launched, I do believe the Dyson Corrale straightener is one of the best hair straighteners for people with very dry, damaged, thick/coarse or colour-treated hair.
To find out why, keep reading for my Dyson Corrale review and step-by-step tutorial.
What Is the Dyson Corrale?
When developing a product, Dyson starts by looking at the problem.
One of the major problems with using hair straighteners is that high heat temperatures and multiple passes are required to get that smooth, sleek finish.
Looks great short term, but it's not great for your hair long term.
With that problem in mind, Dyson developed the Corrale straightener with the following features:
Flexible, ultra-thin plates: These flexible plates are engineered to the width of a human hair and made from a manganese copper alloy. Because they’re flexible, they gather hair together to style more effectively with less passes.
Use corded or cordless: You can use the Corrale cordless for up to 30 minutes with the equivalent performance of a corded straightener, and it charges back to full in 70 minutes. I only need 30 mins to straighten my hair, so unless you have exceptionally thick and long hair, you should be able to do the same.
Total heat control: You can choose from three precise heat settings, 165°C, 185°C and 210°C. A sensor checks and adjusts the temperature of the plates 100 times a second!
Travel-friendly (kind of): The Corrale can be put in a flight mode that disconnects the battery. It also has universal voltage so you can charge it wherever you are.
Only downside? Due to the battery, the Corrale is bulkier than your average straightener, so it’s probably not the kind of straightener you’d go backpacking with. I would actually say its size and weight are the only things to keep in mind if you’re a light traveller.
What does the Dyson Corrale come with? The set includes a magnetic 360° charging cable, a charging dock and a heat-resistant travel pouch.
It also comes in limited edition colourways, like the *stunning* Dyson Corrale Fuchsia/Nickel with Dark Blue Case for Mother's Day above!
