Nothing makes me feel as smug as being told I smell good.
I don’t know why, but being complimented on my scent feels so much more special than any other form of admiration.
Although let’s be real, I’ll take all the compliments I can get.
Perhaps it’s because fragrance is so personal. A signature scent can tell you a lot about someone.
For example: until recently, my boyfriend wore a $30 cologne for years.
What does this tell us?
Well for one, the man loves a bargain. And he's a serious creature of habit.
But it's also the same cologne he was wearing the first time we met. He kept buying it because it reminded him of us and that day - textbook Cancerian behaviour.
With our sensorial identities on the line, it's no wonder that finding a new fragrance can often feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.
But when we do, we wear them to death.
This week I was tasked with road-testing the fragrance collection from our new brand, Recreation Beauty.
I approached cautiously optimistic, knowing how picky I can be.
To my surprise, during my search for a new scent to call my own, I didn't just find one, but two (who is she!?).
For the purpose of my review, I knew I had to choose one.
So I narrowed it down to Recreation Beauty STARDUST EDP 50ml:
“A grown-up, woody parfum with notes of musk, that deserves to be worn in the company of a dimly lit bar, sipping on an old fashioned.”
Swap the old fashioned for a spicy marg and you’ve got me in one.
In a close second was Joyeux, which I’ll get to shortly.
