Eye Balm, Beard Balm & A Unisex Scent: 6 Things We're Buying in Our Staff Orders This Month

When you work in beauty (yep, it's as tough a gig as you'd imagine), there's one thing people in your life want to know...

What beauty products do you buy with your staff order?

And secondly, do you still get the TimTam?

The answer to the latter is, we do. But why is seeing inside staff orders so goddamn pervy?

We reckon it's because spending your own money on a product is the highest form of praise you can give it.

Even more so when you can choose from the thousands of products we stock - keeping in mind the very generous staff discount.

Last month, beauty editor Joanna shared the products she bought with her staff order.

Whose TimTam is at risk this time?

Podcast editor Matthew and video editor Edward, both of whom are currently co-hosting our new Mr Beauty IQ podcast series! (You can listen to the latest episode below.)

Plus, we have some recommendations from senior editor Amy (me!), courtesy of her now-skincare-routine-having partner Sam.

From hair dryers and eye balms to a $159 unisex scent, keep scrolling for six products we didn't know we needed this month.

1. who is elijah MUSE EDP.

who is elijah MUSE who is elijah MUSE

What: who is elijah MUSE 50ML

A warm, musky scent anyone can wear that's fresh but also a bit animalistic.

Why it's great:

"Sam and I both wear this unisex scent and love it. It's sexy and subtle, and I think $115 for 50ml or $159 for 100ml of a boutique fragrance is a bargain. Even though it has floral notes of jasmine, the base notes are ambergris, ambroxan, woods and musk. Base notes are the ones you'll be able to smell the longest, which is what gives it the magnetic appeal." - Amy, senior editor.

2. FOREO UFO.

What: Foreo UFO 2

This multi-tasking skin tool features technology like T-sonic pulsations, cryotherapy and thermotherapy, as well as LED light therapy.

You can read more about LED tools here, and watch this YouTube video for more info on FOREO UFO specifically.

Why it's great:

"This is probably my most valuable possession, aside from a report I got from my grade two teacher back in 2002 in which she called me a little ray of sunshine. This tool isn't cheap, but I first found out about it editing the YouTube video above and I fell in love with it. It gives you a facial treatment in 90 seconds. Afterwards, I feel so relaxed." - Edward, video editor.

3. Patricks Eye Balm.

What: Patricks EB1 | Triple Correction Eye Balm with Delta Complex

A lightweight balm you can swipe on to hydrate, refresh and brighten the under-eyes. It also looks like a lip balm.

Why it's great:

"This is a balm for under your eyes and here's why I wanted it. I have these dark rings of puffiness under the eyes and this rejuvenates and hydrates that skin. It absorbs immediately. Plus, Edward complimented me the other day on how I looked better than I usually do when I wake up." - Matthew, podcast editor.

4. Lab Series Daily Rescue Energizing Face Lotion.

What: Lab Series Daily Rescue Energizing Face Lotion 50ml

An energising face moisturiser with a lightweight consistency that gives skin a healthy glow.

Why it's great:

"This is a moisturiser and it's part of my morning routine. The reason I really like it is it's smooth and easy to apply. Two pumps is all you need. And I'm very passionate about the 'age rescue' part because... the years are falling like rain and soon I'm gonna be 50." - Edward.

5. Patricks AM1 | Anti-aging Moisturizer Hydrating with Delta Complex.

What: Patricks AM1 | Anti-aging Moisturizer Hydrating with Delta Complex

A rich yet fast-absorbing daily moisturiser to hydrate, nourish and refresh.

Why it's great:

"I've been using this consistently for a couple of weeks, but you know what I really like about it? I put it on, and I feel like a million bucks. I look in the mirror and say 'yep, you can do this today'. Not to mention it's actually doing good stuff for my face." - Edward.

6. Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer.

What: Dyson Supersonic Black Nickel

This is the same top-of-the-line Dyson hair dryer, but in a black colour finish.

Why it's great:

"I don't usually use hair dryers because they make my hair look boofy, it's a Judge Judy kind of vibe. But this one is different. It's really expensive and there'd be a tonne of reasons this hairdryer has such a price tag. I don't know about that, but what I do know is the combination of the motor, heat monitor and the powerful air flow dries your hair quickly, without heat damage. I use the defuser attachment, it's a time machine to get the frizz-free look in a few minutes." - Matthew.
