But First, What Causes Blind Pimples?
To better prepare yourself in discovering how to get rid of blind pimples, it helps to understand what causes them. Many factors can result in a blind pimple appearing on places like the nose or chin, including:
· Trapped sebum and bacteria under the skin
· Hormonal imbalances causing overproduction of oil on the skin
· Certain medications, such as oral corticosteroids and some contraceptives
· Genetics, with blind pimples appearing to run in families
· Stress
· Incompatible skin care products
· Air pollution and environmental impurities
· Pressure and chafing from restrictive clothing like helmets, masks etc.
· Squeezing or scratching acne on the skin
How Long Do Blind Pimples Last?
Depending on how you respond to the appearance of blind pimples and other types of acne, these annoying bumps usually go away within a week or two. There are cases where these spots can be present under the skin for months at a time, causing discomfort and irritation. By addressing the concerns and causes listed above, you can actively help to reduce the amount of time blind pimples plague you.
Here’s What Not to Do When You Have a Blind Pimple.
Just like first dates, knowing how to act around a blind pimple is… tricky. And not knowing how to get rid of them makes us downright anxious.
One wrong move and it’s all downhill.
Not to mention the aftermath of regret and acne scars (both physical and emotional) you’ll be left to deal with.
If you feel a blind pimple coming on (tell-tale signs include painful throbbing bumps, often around the jawline area), there’s one thing you should never, EVER do…
DO NOT TRY TO POP THAT PIMPLE.
Unlike whiteheads and blackheads that sit on the surface of the skin, blind pimples live somewhere between the epidermis and dermis, trapped by our sebaceous glands.
Because the way out is blocked by oil, dead skin cells and bacteria, trying to push anything out from so deep within the skin will only lead to inflammation, scarring and in extreme situations – infection.
