When you’ve been in the beauty biz as long as I have (*cough* 18 years) there are brands you know you can rely on to always deliver the goods.
Dermalogica is one of those brands for me.
Since I began my courtship with them way back when (my gateway product was Special Cleansing Gel) I’ve always repped at least one Dermalogica product in my skincare routine because they just work, and always make good on their claims.
I’ve used a lot of products over that time, and there hasn’t been a single dud - NOT ONE!
Ok, this has accidentally turned into a love song dedication to Dermalogica, but this is all to say that when their latest, Pro-Collagen Banking Serum, came across my desk, I was pretty (read: very) excited to get it on my skin.
The promise was plumper, more hydrated skin, and wouldn’t you know it — this is exactly what I’m perpetually after.
So naturally I had to road test, and tell you all about it.
Here are my thoughts, two weeks in.
What Is Dermalogica Pro-collagen Banking Serum?
What: Dermalogica Pro-Collagen Banking Serum
When I tell you that Dermalogica don’t mess around with claims, I mean it.
The first thing that they’ll tell you is that applying topical collagen products won’t enhance or even replenish your collagen reserves — and that’s because the molecules are too big to actually penetrate the skin and do the work. But!
What the R&D team at Dermalogica have discovered is that you can preserve, or “bank” the collagen you already have — genius, no?
Enter: Dermalogica Pro-Collagen Banking Serum.
Here are the footnotes:
Chockful of Amino Acids, the building blocks of collagen.
Also contains the peptide carnosine dipeptide which has both antioxidant properties (to fight free radicals) and anti-glycation properties (glycation can cause collagen to harden and weaken which equals loss of firmness).
Helps the collagen you already have to last longer by protecting it from the free radicals that break it down.
Hydrates and plumps, which helps to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Also has polyglutamic acid and jojoba ester to nourish the skin barrier.
