A Hayfever Sufferer's Guide to Spring Time Beauty

I’ve had multiple friends complain about how gross it sounds when I aggressively rub my nose during the springtime. I mean, I’m fine with the snot squelch, but in the end I’m left with the satisfaction of that oh-so wonderful post nose-rub feeling, whereas the people around me don’t have the same luxury.

Long story evidently quite long, I’m a hayfever sufferer and am allergic to a whole assortment of things throughout the year. Pollen, dust, cats… Not that it stops me for petting felines or neglecting the picture frames on my bedside table that are now sporting a fine film of particles.

Tell Me More:

Fortunately for you, a life of watery eyes and a runny nose puts me in a position of great wisdom when it comes to what to put on your face in this situation. And don't forget, antihistamines work a treat.

So, without further ado, here are my top products for hayfever sufferers this Spring:

Pixi Beauty 24K Eye Elixir

The cooling and depuffing effect of the Pixi Beauty 24K Eye Elixir is so soothing and is such a great distraction from my itchy eyes. The peptide serum fights signs of fatigue and puffiness, gently massaging it away with a cooling rollerball (which is particularly satisfying after an eye-rubbing episode).

Smith's Rosebud Salve Menthol and Eucalyptus Balm

My preferred lip balm for peak allergy season is Smith's Rosebud Salve Menthol and Eucalyptus Balm where the menthol goodness can waft up and clear up my nose while hydrating my lips.

I hate my flakey nose with a passion and the rest of my painful dry face with almost as much vigor. So a HA like the Alpha-H Hyaluronic 8 Serum is my best friend during the springtime. It quickly treats those flakey bits around my nose that can be mistaken for a rogue bat in the cave, as well as transforming my chronically dry complexion into being plump and glowy.

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Total Cover Concealer Palette

Colour correcting is where my grade 2 art class skills can finally shine. Use complementary colours from the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Total Cover Concealer Palette to disguise redness and any little veins that peek through. I’ve been known to use green concealer all over my face before parties to minimise my eventual Asian flush, but that story is for another time.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof

I always feel like I’ve been punched in my watery eyes, and end up spending all too much time being squinty. So on days I want to at least look a little more alive, mascara is my go-to. I love a waterproof mascara, which outside of combatting the effects of allergies, also overcomes my oily eyelids and droopy lashes. For all this and more, I recommend the Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof.
