The Cult Eye Cream That Now Comes in a Glowy Vitamin C Moisturiser (Perfect Under Makeup)

I love glow. From glossy hair to sparkly outfits, to dewy skin there’s nothing matte in my life.

So, when I found out that Ole Henriksen was launching their best-selling Banana+ Bright eye cream as a moisturiser, I knew I had to get my hands on it.

And if you’ve been living under a skincare rock and haven’t heard of this little pot of gold, let me give you a quick refresher.

What Is the Banana Bright+ Eye Cream?

Named as Allure Reader’s choice as their winner for 2023, this eye cream should be on your bingo card if dark circles are your concern.

It features:

• 3 forms of Vitamin C to work on breaking up existing pigment.

• Hardy orange extract to neutralise free radical damage.

• Banana pigments to illuminate the skin.

There’s a reason it’s been named the best eye cream.

When I finally received the moisturiser however, I realised that the formula was slightly different to its little sister...

Difference Between Ole Henriksen Banana Bright+ Eye Cream and Moisturiser.

I don’t know why but I thought it would be the exact same formulation, because the skin on the rest of our face needs different ingredients to the skin under our eyes (hence why an eye cream and face creams exist as two separate categories) but… I did.

So, if you’re like me and expecting a carbon copy of the eye cream, you’ll be thrilled to know that the new Banana Bright+ Instant Glow Moisturizer still has:

• One of the three forms of vitamin C that’s in the eye cream, the gold-complexed Vitamin C (which in my opinion is the best one) because it’s pure ascorbic acid combined with real gold to improve the delivery of vitamin C to the skin. This is also what gives the skin that brightness and bounce.

• It also has the light reflecting banana pigments to conceal uneven skin tone and leave you with a radiant base.

• In addition, it also has one of my favourite ingredients, niacinamide which helps to control excess oil flow (perfect for my acne prone babes), brighten your complexion, and lighten those stubborn spots.

• Along with hyaluronic and polyglutamic acid which binds the moisture to the skin and leaves it feeling juicy, delicious, and hydrated.

• They’ve also thrown in Scandinavian cloudberrry seed oil which promotes the renewal and growth of new skin cells.

My Ole Henriksen Banana Bright+ Instant Glow Moisturizer Review:

Before we get to my review let me tell you a little about my skin, which is oily on the t-zone and dry on the chin (hello combination skin).

I also suffer from melasma, which thanks to years of consistent vitamin C, niacinamide and retinol just looks like some slight discoloration in certain light.

And my plan is always to mask it and improve it.

The minute I opened this cream, I noticed its fragrance, which I can only describe as fruity.

For me, it’s not a dealbreaker, in fact, I find it oddly comforting but, if you don’t like strong scents then this might not be for you.

The texture on the other hand is delicious.

It’s a true cream consistency with a slightly yellow-orange hue that sinks into the skin within a matter of seconds and leaves my skin feeling fresh and hydrated.

Plus, can we take a second to appreciate this GLOWW...

Upon first application, I already knew that this would be my go-to cream for when I wanted that sun kissed dewy makeup look…. which is every day.

And all I can say is it didn’t disappoint, because all I’m wearing here is a skin tint, a touch concealer, blush, lip balm and some mascara:

That’s right, there’s no illuminator or bronzing drops I popped on beforehand. That luminous finish is all thanks to Ole Henrikson. 

It's been a couple of weeks since I’ve been using the moisturiser and the texture and glow aside, what’s surprised me the most, is how my skin tone has started to change.

I’ve noticed that I’m waking up with brighter skin.

So, I dug a little deeper, and according to an 8-week clinical trial on 35 people:

• 30% saw brighter skin over time.

• 100% said it plumped their skin and left it feeling hydrated.

• 100% of the study had reported an improvement on fine lines and wrinkles after 4 weeks.

With those results, and my own I’m not surprised this has already garnered a 4.9 rating.
