The Skincare Products I'm Seeing All Over TikTok That Are *Actually* Good

Okay, I have a confession. I am TikTok obsessed and I'm not ashamed of it. One video on how awesome a product is and it's highly likely that I'll want to try it.

So I was not surprised when I was asked to write this article because I wholeheartedly believe that I am the perfect person for this job.

TikTok is full of skincare products and routine recommendations as well as advice from some amazingly qualified names within the skincare industry.

It's pretty awesome that we now have access to dermatological advice in our pockets. But be warned, TikTok is also full of a lot of misinformation and users sharing their unprofessional advice.

If something sounds fishy, it probably is.

Remember everyone's skin is different, something that works for someone on TikTok may not work for you. Always take any information you have seen on TikTok with a grain of salt, and seek medical advice if needed.

I am so lucky in my job as Marketing Coordinator for Skincare and Wellness that I get to try hundreds (and I mean, hundreds) of skincare products.

I have a vested interest in products that have gone viral because, ultimately, it's my job to know.

It's also great to meet with brands that have had a product go viral to see how much of a positive impact it has had on them. It's definitely an achievement in this day and age and something to celebrate.

So I put 7 viral skincare products to the test to tell you if they're worth the hype or not (hint: they are).

1. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.

What: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Fast facts:

  • Plumps the appearance of lips.

  • Designed to keep lips hydrated while you sleep.

  • Available in Berry, Gummy Bear, Sweet Candy, Vanilla and some limited edition ones too.

My Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask review:

I think if you cloned me a hundred times, I still wouldn’t have enough fingers and toes to count how many times the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask gets mentioned at Adore Beauty. It's quite literally an Adore Beauty staple.

It's not hard to see why this product has received so much buzz.

The packaging is cute, it smells incredible, is extremely hydrating and you can feel the benefits pretty much instantly.

The hashtag #laneigelipmask currently has 249 million views on TikTok and has been endorsed by some of the biggest influential celebrities worldwide.

It’s designed to be put on at night like a lip mask and taken off in the morning. I personally didn’t have any product left on my lips in the morning to take off but noticed how soft and supple my lips were.

2. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (+) Acne Moisturiser.

What: La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (+) Acne Moisturiser

Fast facts:

  • Dual action pimple cream.

  • Uses niacinamide and piroctone olamine to eliminate pesky imperfections.

  • Controls sebum-clogged pores with a combination of LHA and linoleic acid.

My La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo review:

If you're a TikTok skincare fanatic like me, then La Roche-Posay needs no introduction. It has a constant rolling feature on my For You Page as it won't break the bank and delivers insane results.

The La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo before and after videos on TikTok are truly mind-blowing. There are a plethora of dermatologists that have given glowing reviews, too.

It was initially intended as a spot treatment for those pesky pimples but is now being used as an overall moisturiser for acne-prone skin.

In all honesty, I don’t get too many breakouts. Just a few deep ones around my period. I did manage to get a lovely pimple in between my eyebrows (third eye, anyone?) so I was able to do a spot test on this bad boy.

The pimple did disappear in a few days and didn’t worsen. It feels like it may have reduced the severity but I can't say whether it helped clear it or not.

I would go check out the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo before and afters, or chat with a dermatologist if you would like more information.

3. CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser.

What: CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser 236ml

Fast facts:

  • Suitable for face and body.

  • Suitable for skin prone to Keratosis Pilaris.

  • Smooths and softens dry and bumpy skin.

My CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser review:

No matter how many times you refresh your feed, CeraVe will always come up.

There's a multitude of cleansers and moisturisers that have cult status on TikTok, but the absolute fave has got to be the CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser.

It contains salicylic acid to help blemish-prone skin without stripping the skin of its moisture.

I was a little bit hesitant as I don’t have oily skin and wasn’t that keen to dry out my skin, but I was pleasantly surprised that my dry skin could handle this cleanser.

I even noticed that some of my skin texture had smoothed out. I would consider adding this to my routine when my skin is feeling textured or bumpy.

4. La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5.

What: La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ Balm

Fast facts:

  • Suitable for sensitive skin.

  • Dermatologically approved.

  • Supports optimal skin moisture barrier recovery.

My La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume review:

Another absolute cult favourite by our friends at La Roche-Posay, the Cicaplast B5+ Baume is no stranger to Adore Beauty.

This product has earned cult status and was sold out for months due to its versatility and the fact that it is quite literally a "multi-purpose" treatment balm.

I thank the TikTok algorithm for showing me this one. I really get the hype.

Dehydrated, flaky skin? Cicaplast. Impaired skin barrier? Cicaplast. Post-procedure, reactive skin? Cicaplast.

I know whenever my skin has a rosacea flare up, or is super dry because I sit with the heater blasting in front of my face that I can rely on my handy Cicaplast Baume B5 to help me out and get my skin back to normal in a couple of days.

This thick, creamy moisturiser is fragrance-free and is as good as the 457+ million hashtags on TikTok say.

5. COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence .

What: COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence 100ml

Fast facts:

  • Promotes collagen production.

  • Hydrating and watery formula.

  • Can repair and protect the skin barrier.

My COSRX Snail Mucin Essence review:

Ah yes, the weird and wonderful world of Korean skincare.

Korean skincare has earned its place on the most famous skincare shelves for two reasons. First, it's affordable and second, it works!

Admittedly, COSRX Snail Mucin gave me the shivers, especially those videos of TikTok users pressing it between their fingers to replicate the snaily, slimy texture that gave it its name.

Other than the weird name and TikTok videos, I honestly wasn’t really sure where to include this product in my routine.

A quick TikTok search told me to use COSRX Snail Mucin as you would a normal serum: after cleanser and before moisturiser, on a slightly dampened face.

So I did what TikTok told me, and I absolutely loved it.

The texture isn't as slimy as I thought and I noticed a reduction in redness and irritation within a few days of use.

I am going to incorporate it into my routine on the nights when I feel my skin needs a break from actives.

6. Avene Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream.

What: Avène Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream

Fast facts:

  • Can be used after minor dermatological procedures.

  • Helps repair damaged, dry, cracked, and non-oozing skin.

  • Restores the skin's cutaneous barrier and its high content in Avène Thermal Spring Water soothes irritations.

My Avene Cicalfate Restorative Protective Cream review:

Avene Cicalfate is very similar to the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast, but still worth the mention as one of the best viral skincare products out there.

If you Google this one, I guarantee you will be greeted by a photo of Hailey Bieber.

When Hailey shared her go-to product for irritated skin, the Avene Cicalfate Restorative Protective Cream went bonkers.

I tend to opt more towards Avene as I find it suits my dry skin, gives me a little bit more hydration and works wonders in recovering my skin barrier.

7. Weleda Skin Food.

Weleda Skin Food Jordi in-article Weleda Skin Food Jordi in-article

What: Weleda Skin Food

Fast facts:

  • 100% certified natural.

  • Suitable for dry and rough skin.

  • Thick, creamy texture of plant oils, lanolin and beeswax.

My Weleda Skin Food review:

Dry skin sufferers, unite. Another one from our friend Hailey Bieber (talk about having influence), Weleda Skin Food went viral after Hailey shared it as a skincare hack for prepping her skin for makeup.

Celebrity makeup artists have also been quick to show their appreciation for the thick moisturiser.

It's packed with oils and butter, and its nourishing formula can transform even the driest of skin to get your prepped and ready for foundation.

I've been desperately wanting to try Weleda Skin Food as my dry, flaky skin loves to peek through my foundation even when I'm feeling hydrated.

When I first tried it, the strong lavender scent threw me. I don’t know why I didn’t expect it.

Otherwise, Weleda Skin Food is exactly what my skin needs in winter.

I can imagine it might be a little too much for some, but I love the dewy finish it gave me. I put this on 10 minutes before applying foundation to let it sink in a little because it's definitely thick.

Final Verdict...

Let's just say, products on TikTok go viral for a reason.

Some of these surprised me, but I could see why so many people love and adore them.

Some of these products suit a certain skin type more than others, so my suggestion would be to look into what you would like to achieve in your skincare routine and pick accordingly.
