Confessions of a Coffee Lover: My Journey to Whiter Teeth and a Radiant Smile

Why does everything that stains your teeth have to be so damn good?

Curries, soy sauce (a Vietnamese staple) and, my ultimate weakness, my daily strong oat latte. Multiple if I’m honest.

When I moved out, the first thing on my wishlist was a coffee machine.

Which, in my world, meant I had to be consistent with my smile-care.

I didn’t realise how much of a difference incorporating a solid smile-care routine has made until my friend asked me if I actually rated HiSmile products.

Only by looking through my old photos and videos did I realise how drastically different my teeth are.

Once horrifically yellow, my teeth are now much brighter and much whiter and I’m going to tell you exactly how I did it.

What is HiSmile?

You’ve probably come across HiSmile in your algorithm at some point.

Whether it’s scrolling through Instagram or on TikTok, they’re always the next video on the feed or lurking around the corner.

HiSmile is a beauty brand that focuses on smile-care products.

Through research, conversations with experts and delving into the realm of traditional whitening techniques, they found the culprit behind the common teeth whitening issues: peroxide.

They developed the highly popular Hismile PAP+ Teeth Whitening Kit and viral sensation, Hismile V34 Colour Corrector.

With a devoted and almost cult-like fanbase, they continue to formulate innovative smile-care products with leading dentists, product experts and their community.

When HiSmile first launched at Adore Beauty in 2022, I was lucky enough to road-test the HiSmile PAP Strips (which you can read here).

Now, I'm going to take you through my three-step HiSmile routine.

Step 1. HiSmile PAP+ Powder.

The Hismile PAP+ Powder is a teeth-whitening powder that can be used effortlessly on top of your toothpaste, transforming any plain old toothpaste into a whitening one.

How to use Hismile PAP + Powder:

If you want to use it as a standalone whitening product, simply dip the bristles of your toothbrush into the powder, brush for at least two minutes and rinse.

Otherwise, you can easily transform your ordinary toothpaste into a whitening one by squeezing out your toothpaste (as you normally would), dipping your toothbrush into the powder, brushing for two minutes and rinsing as usual.

Honestly, I like to switch between the two methods depending on how much effort I want to put in that day.

If my teeth feel like they need a solid buff, I will brush my teeth normally first and then use the HiSmile PAP+ Powder on its own.

The generous tub size lasts quite a while, and the convenience of turning ANY toothpaste into a whitening one is unmatched.

The powder does have a slight taste.

I can’t really describe it. It's not overly yuck, but it’s there so be sure not to inhale before the powder has foamed up because it will hit the back of your throat.

Consistency is key with this little gem and because it’s so simple to use, it's easy to achieve.

Because the powder is made with their hero ingredient PAP+ or Phthalimidoperoxycaproic Acid, it whitens teeth fast without causing tooth sensitivity and undesirable side effects like sensitivity and gum irritation that can come with peroxide.

Step 2: HiSmile PAP+ Whitening Strips.

The HiSmile PAP+ Strips (7PK) are specially crafted with the PAP+ formula for quick and effective teeth whitening, minus sensitivity.

How to use HiSmile PAP+ Whitening Strips:

On clean teeth apply the strips for 30 minutes during your makeup routine or, if you’re like me, on the drive to work.

Take them off and ta-da! Teeth that are instantly brighter and whiter.

I’ve repurchased the HiSmile PAP Strips over and over since the road test.

They truly tick all of the boxes: convenient, sensitive teeth-friendly and a solid whitening boost.

I adore that it only takes 30 minutes for the strips to work and that they are so easy to travel with and so damn effective.

Before I got the powder I was using the strip once a week and it made my smile oh-so bright.

I now use it once a month or when my teeth are looking a bit dull.

Step 3. HiSmile V34 Colour Corrector.

The Hismile V34 Colour Corrector neutralises yellow tones in your teeth with a purple solution that whitens teeth and reduces yellow stains.

How to use HiSmile V34 Colour Corrector:

Apply a pea-sized amount onto your toothbrush, follow your usual brushing routine for two minutes, spit out, and rinse!

You can use the colour corrector as a daily treatment, or before a special event.

My HiSmile V34 Colour Corrector review:

I love the HiSmile V34 with a passion.

It's my saviour before an event or when I need a good brightening boost.

Keep in mind that you do look like you’ve smashed down a box of blueberries right after you use it but it does go away.

The whitening aspect does last for a couple of hours so, again, great for an event or a photoshoot.

Will the HiSmile V34 last the whole week? No.

Like a purple shampoo for your hair, it neutralises yellow tones as you go about your day, but eating and drinking will fade it away.

Final Verdict.

I’m obviously a HiSmile stan.

A brighter smile makes all the difference and I feel much more confident when I smile in photos.

The transformation after using these HiSmile products consistently for over a year has been unreal.
